Client: Central Group
Team: Ian Ritchie Architects, Compass Architekti + Marko&Placemakers
Marko&Placemakers developed the public realm strategy for this new urban centre which will deliver 1200 new homes. The masterplan concept is of an intelligent and sensitive ‘city centre’ to attract people based upon communal courtyards, new street typologies and towers delivering a new social and cultural landscape with a rich variety of forms and accommodation. Centred on the concept of three residential courtyards and three towers, our proposals are:
1. Diverse in scale and typology
2. Permeable and connected
3. Adaptable and programmable
4. Green and inclusive
5. Attractive and experiential
6. Promoting health and wellbeing
The public realm is a fully integrated urban landscape, creating a shared and inclusive extension of ‘HOME’ for the new inhabitants. It is a new interlinked and car-free street typology providing an attractive, welcoming, active and liveable city quarter.
